Andy wins the national championship after a fabulous attack

championshipOn Sunday 28th of June at Differdange (Luxembourg) started the national championship. The race had a distance of 155 km and existed of 1 big round (55km) followed by 4 local rounds (25km), difficulty was de Col d’Europe. The peloton existed out of professionals, amateurs and the category U23.


The first attack was from cyclo-crosser Jempy Drucker, the favourites for the victory followed immediately. This group stayed together for a long time. At 70 km for the finish Andy placed his final attack and ride a fabulous race. His maximum advantage was almost 2 minutes. This was the discussion of the race and Andy became the new national champion of Luxembourg and the successor of his brother Frank. After Andy it was existed for the other places. Silver was for Laurent Didier (Team Designa Kokken) and bronze was for brother Frank. Kim Kirchen became after several attempts to close the advantage of Andy fourth.

"I am proud to go to the Tour with the national colours on my back. I did a good test for myself and I felt good." - Andy after his victory.

Not only Andy is a new national champion, also his teammates Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland), Kurt Asle-Arvensen (Norway), Matti Breschel (Denmark) and Marcus Ljungqvist (Sweden).
Other good news is that the team of Andy founded a new co-sponsor, the name is Playitas (a Spanish holiday resort).
